Effective members benefit from gaining involvement in the European PPE community and consequently having the opportunity to have input into European legislative and standard issues ESF effective members also will receive early information on European issues and have access to lobbying within the EU Commission. Who are the effective members?

National associations or federations of PPE-suppliers (Personal Protection Equipment) established within EU Free Trade Association (EFTA) or within a candidate member of the EU or the European Free Trade Association or within a candidate member state of the EU or the EFTA.

Local or regional associations active in at least 2 European nations, except when in one of such nations a national organisation is already an effective member. National associations of PPE suppliers with an establishment outside of the EU or the EFTA, with proviso that the specific acceptance conditions as stated infra be satisfied. Only one effective member shall be admitted per country.


Voting right:
Effective members have voting rights at the General Meeting (one vote per member) and may be appointed as Board Member.


Become a member:
The candidate members addresses their nomination to the president of the Board of Directors, who transfer it immediately transmit it to the other board members. Each of the members has the right to express a negative opinion within thirty (30) days after written notice and notified it in writing to the President A candidate member for which no negative advice was released, become automatically provisional member after expiry of the period of thirty (30) days. The membership shall be ratified at the next General Assembly. If a negative opinion, the candidacy as an effective member will be deliberated at the next Board of Directors who takes a provisional decision on the admission as a effective member. The next General Assembly will finally decide on the refusal or approval of the admission as a effective member. At this General Assembly shall be at least two / thirds (2/3) of the members present or represented. The decision shall be taken by a two / thirds (2/3) majority. Until this meeting, the candidate-member will be a provisional member and membership fees are due.

Cooperative members benefit from direct access at European level to EU activity.

This will enable cooperative members to input into the decision making process, influence ESF positions and actions and participate in ESF working groups. read more Cooperative members benefit from direct access at European level to EU activity.

This will enable cooperative members to input into the decision making process, influence ESF positions and actions and participate in ESF working groups. The working groups will be issue based and formed to influence EU policy, inputting at the highest level. Cooperative members must retain their national trade association memberships to ensure we interact fully with senior policy makers, both at European and national level to bring the maximum influence.


Who are the cooperative members:
Enterprises that are operating as suppliers of PPE provided they themselves belong to at least one national organisation that is an effective member of the association and retain membership in all national organisations (effective members of E.S.F.) wherein they are members at the time of accession. If one of these conditions is not met, the General Assembly may allow a departure from the rules. Such a decision shall be taken by majority vote.


Voting right:
Cooperative members shall hold no voting right in the General Meeting and cannot be elected to a directorship. They can become members of committees in which they have an interest.

Admitted members benefit from the information they receive on PPE related issues

whilst having a link to the PPE community as a whole and being able to network with key players of the industry. Input into ESF positions is also a valuable benefit available to admitted members.


Who are the Admitted members?
Natural persons, legal persons, national or international organisations with an interest in the field of ‘OHS´ (Occupational Health and Safety at Work).


Voting Right:
Admitted members shall hold no voting rights in the General Meeting. They may attend the Board of Directors meetings as observers. They can become members of committees in which they have an interest.
